Trees

We are lucky to have many magnificent trees. Not only are they the cornerstones of the landscape, but many have features which make them special and attractive. The examples shown here, were chosen because of their truly unusual appearance.

Some of our oldest trees are not pretty at all; to the contrary, they are half dead. They are important for many inhabitants of the Farm however, because many of them have holes of different sizes and shapes that provide comfortable apartments for our feathered and fur bearing friends.

Honey Locust Tree

This Honey Locust tree has tremendous thorns; it is not for your “honey” to lean against.

Beech Tree ( Fagus sylvatica var.roseo-marginata)

In spring the brilliant color of this tree is unsurpassed especially in rising or setting sunlight.

"My Farm at Goose Pond" includes photographs of the following trees: Chestnut Oak, White Oak, Black Locust, Trumpet Vines, Catalpa (Cigar Tree), Beech, Honey Locust, China Fire, Smoke Tree, Flowering Dogwood, Chinese Dogwood, Mimosa Tree, Butterfly Bush, Flowering Abelia, Cedar Tree, and Wisteria.

All trees which are shown in "My Farm at Goose Pond", were chosen because of their distinctive forms, attractive flowers or exceptional shapes. Many beautiful details in the photographs are plainly visible if you know where to look for them. Notice that the Cigar Tree flowers are similar to orchids.
